Certificate III Allied Health Assistance

This porgram (HLT23221) provides students with valuable knowledge, skills and experience in health care and is an asset in students' preparation for entrance interviews and applications for further study. The course provides students with an understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, communication and team work, as well as establishing a solid foundation on which to build their health care career. 

Students who start out with a Certificate II in Health Support Services have the opportunity to continue their studies with the Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance. This progression allows students to continue their study pathway whilst preparing them to work within the Australian Health System in a range of health services roles.​

Pathway outcomes

This qualification establishes a basis for further education and employment in the following fields/roles:

  • nursing
  • medical administration
  • pharmacy assistant
  • social work

Work Placement

Students complete 120 hours of work placement in an Allied Health workpalce

Completion requirements

To be awarded the Certificate II Health Support Services, competency must be demonstrated in 12 units of competency, consisting of:

  • 4 core units, plus
  • 8 elective units.

Students must complete the Certificate II HSS to progress to the Certificate III Allied Health Assistance​. 

Students received credit for 7 units from the Certificate II Health Support Services. Competency must be demonstrated in 12 units of competency, consisting of:
  • 7 core units, plus
  • 5 elective units.
